In New Zealand, Dragon Boating is a competitive sport, a social passtime and it is great way to meet people. 
It is the ultimate team sport, because Dragon Boat teams are made up of upto 22 people all working together, in unison, in harmony and in spirit to achieve a goal!

From Social paddling activities, Corporate team building events through to Elite level racing at Regional, National and International competitions, anyone can be part of this wonderful sport.

The New Zealand Dragon Boat Association (NZDBA) also known as Dragon Boat NZ, is the "peak sporting body" and the National Sports Organisation (NSO) for our sport. We are associated with national sporting bodies such as Sport NZ and we are also an affiliate of the International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) which governs the sport of Dragon Boat racing world-wide.

Our NZ National Dragon Boat team, affectionately known as the Black Dragons, are regular medalists at the World Dragon Boat Racing Championships where much larger countries such as China, the USA, Cananda, Germany and Australia are also competing. As is the Kiwi way, we "punch well above our weight" at the international level.
